RESPONSABILITIES
Reporting to the Head of the United States and Latin America region, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving investment performance of a real estate portfolio valued at approximately $35 billion predominantly invested in direct ownership. We actively manage our investments alongside 15 operating partnerships with established partnership governance. The portfolio is diversified across many gateway and growth markets in residential properties and its sub-categories including manufactured housing, in single family homes and student housing, in logistics platforms and portfolios, in office properties including creative office and in the life sciences sector.
You will be a catalyst for a culture of collaboration with the investment and support teams including courses of action related to new investments, business plan execution, value creation strategies, refinancing projects and dispositions, all with the purpose to deliver optimal return on investment in line with the Company’s objectives. A partnership culture between our asset management and investment people is required throughout the lifecycle of our investments and in managing our partnerships.
Accountability for driving investment performance of our investments will be the main mission, including establishing and executing optimized asset business plans and ESG objectives as well as developing and tracking KPIs using data driven analytics to support decisions and report on asset performance.
You will be responsible for the asset management team currently consisting of around twenty (20) experienced professionals. Your role will consist of ensuring we have the right skillsets with clear roles and responsibilities to execute the asset management of our investments and partnerships aimed at optimizing performance. You will play a catalytic role in contributing to position Ivanhoé Cambridge as a leader in the real estate industry in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion.
You are an effective communicator and will play a pivotal role in cultivating and leveraging key business relationships in close collaboration with our investment teams throughout all phases of partnership and investment management. You will also work closely with the head of the region, internal teams and operating partners. You will be a key stakeholder in strategic discussions regarding investments, dispositions and alternative asset classes. You will also be accountable for and required to present and effectively communicate our results to internal stakeholders including the Executive Committee and our Board.
KEY REQUIREMENT
  • A minimum of twenty years of relevant industry experience, including twelve to fifteen years of experience in real estate asset management, in roles of increasing complexity; relevant experience in a similar position;
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, in administration or in real estate; graduate degree in a relevant discipline, an asset; Proven capacity at defining and implementing a strong strategic vision;
  • Experience in managing and cultivating a high-performance team of professionals; Able to influence and motivate others and establish productive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Effective in interacting with senior management and preparing and delivering executive presentations for their use; ability to meet needs and requests with sensitivity and tact;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to deliver clear, concise messages;
  • Keen desire to learn, put forward ideas and innovate;
  • Excellent command of market-leading technologies;
  • Montreal-based position: Fluency in written and spoken French and English is required; you will be working on transactions in the US and Latin America;
  • New York-based position: Fluency in written and spoken English, French would be an asset;
  • Available for frequent business travel, mostly within the United States and Latin America.
