GP Joule is looking for a
Health and Safety Coordinator to assume responsibility for coordinating, implementing and maintaining at all time the health, safety and environment (“HSE”) plan on the worksite. By ensuring all GP JOULE HSE programs are strictly adhered to, this role will aim at maintaining Zero Incident and Zero Lost Day of Work at all times, working in collaboration with the Health and Safety Manager and the site leadership team including but not limited to the Construction Manager, Site Superintendents, the Site Administrator.


You will use your expertise to:

  • Review and document sign-off with all onsite personnel appropriate safe work practices (review can be done at daily safety meetings, FLHA review, etc.)
  • Ensure adequate signage is in place and maintained at site and approaching sites (roads), including in trailers.
  • Ensure clear communication and posting of the specific Site HSE Plan.
  • Ensure policies, bulletins, posters, rules and regulations are posted where applicable.
  • Ensure all incidents, near misses and any safety concerns are reported within 24 hours of initial occurrence or report.
  • Review, assess and provide documented feedback on all HSE documents as part of quality assurance processes.
  • Support Functional Manager and Project Manager in weekly and monthly reporting to client for HSE data and information.
  • Manage site HSE orientation for new hires, temporary workers, subcontractor, client staff, etc.
  • Lead daily tailgate meetings, weekly safety meetings, morning stretch and flex.
  • Report accurate reporting of HSE data on Daily Construction Report.
  • Enforce unbiased application of Company rules.
  • Act as a resource to the construction manager, supervisor(s) and foremen in accident investigations, analysis and preparation of reports and summaries.
  • Perform new hazard assessments – as job scope dictates - and review completed hazard assessments (including Field Level Hazard Assessment cards) and assists in taking corrective actions.
  • Ensure that the corrective action(s) identified, whenever deficiencies are found, have been implemented by the responsible worker(s).
  • Lead or assist in incident prevention, investigations and preparation of reports and summaries.
  • Participate in and ensure completion of weekly inspections and necessary documentation.
  • Ensures all HSE equipment is available, in good condition and is properly used and stored.

We would like to review your application if you have the following minimum qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of field construction experience, solar considered an asset.
  • NCSO certified or HSA.
  • Standard First Aid, CSTS 2020, WHMIS certified.

Where you will be working, your work schedule, and other important information:


The base hours of work are a regular 44-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on the business needs.

The work is completed mostly outdoors, completing tasks related to continuously run HSE assessments and ensure all personnel on site safety while at the client’ site/PV facility. At temperatures of -30°C and colder, increased duration and frequency of indoor “warm-up” breaks will be required by the employee. The employee is exposed to uneven terrain (mud, gravel, etc.) and slippery conditions including wet surfaces, snow and ice. The employee will be exposed to vibrations from use of circumstantial tools such as grinders, hammer drills. Mag drills or jack hammers, as well potential to work near running facilities. There is potential noise greater than 85 dBA, therefore use of hearing protection may be required.
