Overview:

Fort St James Forest Products is a brand-new sawmill/planer mill complex that is targeted to start production in 2022. We are looking for hard working and dynamic individuals to be a part of our team

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, support and promote a safe work environment and culture
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical parts and equipment to ensure mobile equipment is meeting safety, production, quality and cost goals.
  • Applies technical skills related to the troubleshooting of all mobile equipment and their mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, all their components and ensuring corrective action is taken.
  • Assist mobile equipment operator personnel with any field checks, observations and let operators know what is less stressful on equipment
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all facility departments and personnel necessary to ensure proper operation and maintenance of mobile equipment and facilities.
  • Check sawdust, chip and shavings bins for cleanup, function etc.
  • Capable of working on ladders, walking stairs and on uneven surfaces
  • Ensure all documentation is kept up to date.
  • Comply with all Company work and safety rules and related industry regulations.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of mobile equipment and their mechanical operations used in the industry and be able to maintain, install, repair and troubleshoot all systems, equipment and facilities.
  • Possess the necessary skills and aptitudes required to operate maintenance tools and related machinery.
  • Ability to learn to operate all facility mobile equipment to the degree needed for troubleshooting and testing.
  • Have a good, open and healthy relationship with all mobile equipment operators
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Heavy-Duty Mechanic position or comparable experience/training.
  • A valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
  • Proficiently troubleshoot mobile equipment and systems, maintain all working components, operate machinery, understand pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Use all tools related to the trade proficiently and have the ability to acquire your own tools throughout employment
  • Good communication skills.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs daily
