We are looking for the right candidate to fill the position of Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at our Edmonton, Alberta location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting work orders and technical manuals both on PC, tablet, and paper. ·
  • Analyzing blueprints and design.
  • Following all safety and health procedures.
  • Performing general and preventive maintenance services
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic failures as well as visually inspecting, listening to the customer, road testing, and using various diagnostic tools. ·
  • Work with the service team to diagnose issues relating to the equipment
  • Completing repairs or replacing defective parts, components, or systems as required.
  • Testing and inspecting vehicles to ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer specifications and Government standards. ·
  • Documenting and recording repair / PM story on work order noting problems or unusual situations encountered during repairs. ·
  • Able to diagnose & repair support equipment such as Light duty trucks, vans, trucks, trailers ·
  • Be able to attend additional training online, and nationally as well as assist other technicians or apprentices with their work. ·
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment ·
  • Produce metal products according to customer and company specifications
  • Repair and maintain metal equipment and structures ·
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations, required materials, and timeframes for projects
  • Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment ·
  • Ensure quality control throughout the repair process ·
  • Conduct final inspection of completed repairs

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Knowledge of operating principles of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment relating to mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of Provincial standards and requirements relative to operation and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of electronic troubleshooting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as, in a team environment. Adept at efficiently and effectively working unsupervised.
  • Attention to detail with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Capable of working in a physically demanding multi-tasking work environment.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail, be extremely organized, and can reliably document failures and repairs.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils may occur.
  • Possible on-call
