Khalsa Secondary School is seeking candidates for three positions.
Khalsa School is an independent Sikh school in the beautiful Fraser Valley region
of British Columbia.

Currently, we have two openings for semester 2. We also are actively recruiting
for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are currently in a practicum and looking for a classroom of your own for Winter 2023 for the two advertised positions or Fall 2023! For January 2023, we have the following positions available:

Position 1: Teacher on Call
Start Date: January 3rd, 2023 to June 30, 2023
Job Type: When there is a shortage to fill

Position Description:
 Cover for teachers who are absent and on other days tutor junior grades (8 - 10) in Math, Science and English. The candidate will not be teaching students but providing support within a classroom when not required to fill a teacher position as a TOC.

Position 2: Math and Business Education
Job start date: January 30th, 2023
Job Type: Full-Time

 Career Education 10
 Quartered Grade 8 electives: Entrepreneurship and Marketing 8 (Jan 30th
to April 14th)/Digital Literacy 8 (April 17th to June 16th )

Salary: Starting salary of $55,000/year for both positions
*Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application with
the Teacher Certification Branch for a CoQ certificate
**Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting
salary for CoQ teachers

Qualification Requirements:
 Valid Teaching Certification in BC (Teaching certificates in other Canadian
provinces and territories are acceptable as long as an application has
been completed for a BC Teaching Certificate)
 You must be eligible to be employed in Canada. Special attention will be
given to applicants who are certified to or can be certified to teach in
British Columbia.
 Preferrable: Teaching experience within Canada
 Ability to work full time
 Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and
equipment of instructional specialty required
 Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school
objectives including the needs and abilities of students required
 Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers
and parents required
 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required

Khalsa School is a Sikh school and a part of the student’s education at our schools
includes education in the Sikh Faith (Sikh music, history, scriptures). However,
these subjects are taught by our religious department and staff. Successful
applicants will only be required to teach the BC Curriculum in English.
Teaching experience at our fine institution is recognized by BC public school
