Summary


Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all duties by our housekeeping staff. The Housekeeping Supervisor will support the role of Executive Housekeeper and work as a cohesive team to ensure that cleaning and servicing of all areas within the hotel are completed. In the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Supervisor will assume the role and responsibilities for the supervision of the housekeeping team.


The Housekeeping Supervisor must be well-organized and creative. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess the ability to display a passion for perfection while working in an energetic and dynamic environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect and check the work of assigned staff to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and orderliness of assigned areas and submit daily inspection and progress reports.
  • Responsible for the training and orientation of new staff.
  • Oversee housekeeping staff productivity and cleaning percentages.
  • Coaching and mentoring the housekeeping team
  • Monitor and motivate the housekeeping team to ensure high levels of productivity
  • Investigating and addressing complaints regarding poor housekeeping service.
  • Check and maintain an adequate level of supplies and materials and request replenishment of supplies as required.
  • Work with front office and maintenance departments regarding the status of rooms, ensuring that guest requirements are met according to Hotel policy.
  • Assist room checkers in the daily checking of rooms, designated staff areas, and public areas; maintain standards by Hotel policy.
  • Performing various cleaning duties in instances of staff shortages.
  • Assist in reporting any workplace injury
  • Your manager may change your role/duties depending on the needs of the operation
  • Performs other duties as required

Education, Qualification and Requirements

  • Minimum of three years related supervisor/management experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Proven housekeeping experience preferred
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations regarding health standards for hotel facilities.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels, both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to provide a clean criminal record check
  • Physically able to perform all duties of the position
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Comfortable with using common household chemicals.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred

Work Environment

  • Able to stand and walk repeatedly over the course of a shift
  • Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching and crouching
  • Regularly exposed to including but not limited to contaminants, industrial cleaning chemicals, and dust and dirt.

Hours of Work

  • The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include early morning, evening and late night, as well as weekends and holidays.
