Reporting to:

Human Resources Manager

Status/Shift:

Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm;

Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm

Hours Worked per Week:

39 hours

Salary:

As per Employment Contract

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Agent will perform the recruitment function for unionized and non-unionized employees and related support by receiving resumes, interviewing, testing, and conducting orientation sessions for qualified applicants for job openings. Must have the ability to maintain databases, create and maintain spreadsheets, and assist employees with questions or concerns.

EDUCATION

  • A university degree and college diploma in human resources or a related field
  • Eligible or in process of becoming eligible for CHRP certification, an asset
  • 1-3 years’ experience, preference in food/general manufacturing environment

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good judgment and ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-direction
  • Highly thorough, accurate, detail-oriented and well-organized team player
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise the utmost tact, discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy at all times
  • Solid organizational and effective time management skills combined with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the demands and timelines of day-to-day operations
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Access

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment process for administrative and unionized employees
  • Prepare, maintain and post internal positions and transfers in accordance with CA
  • Deliver orientation training and onboarding of new hires
  • Serve as the Health and Safety, JHSC, First Aid support
  • Maintain and update information regarding employees on leave, including short/long term disability, parental/maternity and WSIB
  • Maintain the attendance management program
  • Administer group insurance benefits for unionized employees
  • Create professional business letters, memos, reports
  • Schedule and organize meetings (book meeting space, assemble and distribute agendas and take minutes)
  • Maintain grievance records and filing
  • Maintain and conduct salaried birthdays, brunches, and other company events
  • Update and maintain training database and binders, provide information to departments requiring training information
  • Receptionist duties
  • Other duties as assigned
