Human Resources Superintendent

Position Description:

The HR Superintendent will support Human Resources strategic initiatives in areas of employee relations, training, project management, recruiting and induction, talent management, compliance, business improvement, compensation, internal communication, program development, and benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and coaching to department managers in all HR related areas including attendance management, performance management and the progressive discipline process
  • Manage legal claims regarding employee issues
  • Assist and support HR Business Partner(s) with recruitment, retention, onboarding and recognition programs for all employees
  • Build effective relationships with operational department to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies
  • Manage and participate, when necessary, in the talent acquisition process; liaise with vendors for hourly and salaried roles
  • Support and champion organizational HR strategies and initiatives of Recruitment, Retention, Onboarding and Recognition programs for all employees
  • Lead the company performance management programs, including the performance review cycle tracking, individual development plans and succession planning
  • Manage the administration of disability programs, including stay at work and back to work programs
  • Support the management of compensation and pay decisions in alignment with compensation strategy
  • Forecast HR related expenditures and manage the budget and ongoing allocation of resources, including on reporting on budget variances
  • Develop, update and maintain company policies, procedures and standards
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, statutory acts related to the Labour laws for the province of Ontario and Canada
  • Support HR technology initiatives to maintain data integrity across global HR systems
  • Barrick HR practices, policies & initiatives gap analyses
  • Participate in various HR projects as business needs allow.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the operational divisions and other human resources support groups to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Develop and maintain current clear and accurate job descriptions
  • Develop strong relationships with site leadership and building buy-in for the strategic importance of HR services

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of ten years’ relevant work experience in generalist human resources functions
  • Degree/diploma in business, human resources or related field
  • Professional designation, ie, CTDP or CPHR is desirable
  • Results-oriented systems thinker with an understanding of how HR programs integrate into organizations
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation, a working knowledge of industry best practices;
  • Proficient computer literacy, oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed influencing skills, proven ability to relate well to other people in a wide range of contexts and levels; as well as working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding consultative, critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to operate strategically
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and in collaboration with others
