Serving students, staff, faculty and our wider community across all three campuses, the VPFA (Vice President Finance and Administration) leads and develops foundational support services to help achieve SFU’s academic, research and community engagement missions. We deliver SFU’s day-to-day operational and administrative needs through the work of Ancillary Services; Facilities Services; Finance; IT Services; and Safety & Risk Services. The Information Security Analyst executes, assesses, and continuously improves a holistic, integrated, risk-based security framework (comprising policies, procedures, and control techniques) to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University's information. The Analyst assesses risk and makes recommendations for change through involvement with regional, national, and international research and education organizations and working groups. The position responds to incidents, working closely with SFU's academic and research communities. The Analyst conducts privacy impact assessments, security risk assessments, and/or business impact assessments prior to the production implementation of new IT services. The Analyst supports the effective management of information security risks and adherence to legislative and partner requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline relevant to information security and five years of experience related to information security, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of information security principles.
  • Good knowledge of, and ability to communicate industry developments, and the role and impact of technology in a university setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership, mentorship and coaching to individuals and teams.
  • Excellent customer service, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
