Position: Insulation Installer and Helper
Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario (must live locally, or willing to relocate)
Hours: Full-time/Part-time/Casual/On-Call
Salary: $18-25/hour (depending on experience; will pay more if doing travelling-based work)
Reports to: Crew Lead and General Manager

Algoma Ecohome Inc. (AEI) serves as a one-stop-shop for all things energy efficiency in Ontario. With several years in the energy efficiency and conservation field, we are determined to help individuals and groups improve their comfort levels, lower overall energy consumption, and reduce total green house gas emissions. We are continuously growing and are looking for highly motivated individuals to join the team to ensure the successful delivery and installation of insulation.

Role and Responsibilities

∙ Effectively install attic insulation (blown-in cellulose), exterior wall insulation (dense pack cellulose), foundation insulation (blanket wrap)

∙ Thoroughly and successfully perform quality air sealing/draft proofing of the home (attic, windows, doors, etc).

∙ Support the crew with the installation of insulation in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring work is completed within the scope

∙ Complete job preparation promptly and as required

∙ Clean up insulation and other debris from homes, ensuring thorough checks of completed work

∙ If licensed, driving promptly and safely between sites, carrying necessary tools and equipment based on the work order

∙ Other duties as requested and assigned by the Lead and/or the Manager

Requirements and Skillset

∙ Experience with installing insulation and performing air sealing is considered an asset

∙ Previous general labour/renovation experience and knowledge, and the ability to work with hand and power tools

∙ Must be physically fit and able to do the work involved

∙ Working at heights an asset

∙ High School Diploma or equivalent

∙ Valid G Class Ontario driver’s license preferred with a clean driving record/abstract and a reliable way to get to and from work each day

∙ Clear Criminal Background Check completed in last 6 months

∙ Good customer service abilities and time management skills

∙ Excellent attendance and punctuality

Work Environment

∙ Fast-paced physical work, as a team and individually

∙ Ability to work in different environmental conditions (hot/cold temperatures)

∙ Work can occur in confined spaces such as attics

∙ Working at various heights

∙ Standing, bending, lifting heavy objects, and ladder use
