We’re looking for an intermediate-level accounting professional who is excited to be part of a developing and fast-paced team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Intermediate Accountant will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of the accounting process and be empowered to develop new ways of thinking and completing routine tasks. As an individual you are adaptable, inquisitive, innovative, and diligent, while not being afraid to tackle a challenge head-on.

The role:
- Prepare payments and coordinate cash collections
- Manage finance communication to external parties (vendors, customers) and internal stakeholders (staff)
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets
- Analyze, reconcile, and prepare continuity schedules on select accounts (prepaid expenses, capital expenditures)
- Improve processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
- Coordinate the month-end close, including process improvement recommendations
- Develop and ensure adequacy of internal controls
- Prepare monthly reports for inclusion in the senior management and board reporting packages Qualifications
- Progression towards completion of CPA considered an asset
- 2-3 years accounting experience in a progressive organization
- Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Experience with Xero an asset
- Ability to influence operational changes cross-functionally in a positive manner
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent problem-solving skills
