Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. The Metrolinx Intern Program is designed to offer new graduates the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working on projects that guide us forward through our collaborative, inclusive work environment. Upon successful completion of the program, there is the opportunity to be offered a permanent placement.

Our Capital Projects Group, Ontario Line Project Office is seeking an intern to work on various projects within the North Civils Segment portfolio to support the procurement, design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects, in a safe, timely, consistent, and cost-effective manner
What will I be doing?
  • Supporting the project delivery team in managing and coordinating the implementation and monitoring of projects through all stages of design and construction in terms of function, quality, budget schedule and approvals in co-ordination with external and internal authorities.
  • Supporting the monitoring of design quality and construction service.
  • Participate in the development of estimates for project engineering, construction and contingency costs, and project schedules.
  • Supporting the implementation and development of approved projects through all stages of design and construction.
  • Supporting the coordinating with Metrolinx internal and external stakeholders to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Support the preparation of briefings and presentations on project updates for senior management
  • Support the technical review and coordination of technical submittals submitted by Technical Advisors and Contractors.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to collect and document information relating to ongoing projects and department incentives.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or architecture within the last 2 years.
  • Competence in software such as Microsoft Office, MS Project, Primavera software and AutoCAD/Auto Turn, Civil 3D, MicroStation and GIS is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and analytical ability are required.
  • You must be available in the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area for a June 5th, 2023 start date .
