Job Description

Arcadia Tree & Lawn Care is located in Lake Country B.C, and we are currently seeking to fill a seasonal IPM Spray Technician position for spring the 2023 spring/summer and fall season with the potential to become full-time employment. Estimated hire date March 1st (flexible) We offer spray fertilizer, pesticide and herbicide application programs to both commercial and residential clients within the West Kelowna to Vernon area.

This position is seasonal, ~40h/week. Mon - Fri. Option available for year round work.
Season: Roughly March 1 - Dec 1 (Weather permitting)

Hourly Wage Range: $23.00 - $26.00 based on experience.

The successful applicant needs to be physically fit and will be required to work outdoors. They should demonstrate common sense, a good work ethic, and have a friendly and professional demeanor while working on our customers properties.

Full Drivers License is required (Having your N or L is not enough) An approved drivers abstract is also required.* The ability to work independently as part of a team and follow direction effectively is essential. Previous experience as a Spray Tech with your application license would be an asset.

Core Responsibilities & Duties Include: Training will be provided if necessary for the right candidate.

  • Inspect and identify restricted and or noxious weed species throughout the area.
  • Determine and implement weed control measures as needed.
  • Manage weed control through the operation of spray equipment including via a truck, quad sprayer, and backpack sprayer.
  • Structural pruning to be completed as needed. Maintain detailed records and logs on all job sites
  • Provide information and advice to clients in relation to weed inspection services and the need to control restricted and or noxious weeds.
  • Provide information and advice to clients in relation to the application of fertilizer.
  • Maintain assigned work vehicles and equipment ensuring cleanliness and identification of any deficiencies.
  • Perform general inspection programs for agricultural pests as assigned.
  • Display a professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use information appropriately, and maintain the confidentiality and security of all information related to staff, business and residents to whom we provide spray services.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and Arcadia safe work policies and procedures at all times. Always ensuring the protection and safety of self, co-workers, the public and environment.

Qualifications :

  • Preferably hold a current or have eligibility to acquire a Pesticide Applicator (Industrial and/or Agricultural) certificate.
  • Display superior customer service attitude towards internal and external customers.
  • Proficient with computers, ability to work our field software from a mobile device.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate and execute safe and skillful operation of equipment at all times.
  • Possess a valid full driver's license & provide an approvable drivers abstract Ensure appropriate utilization of personal protective equipment required (e.g., CSA footwear).

COVID-19 considerations:
This position is almost entirely outdoors, and once you are trained you will be working solo with your own dedicated vehicle. Interactions with the public & other staff are minimal.
