Position Overview

Arctic Canadian Diamond Company Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Information Technology Intern with a genuine desire to work in the mining industry and take on new opportunities. This position will report to IT Applications & SAP Lead. As Part of the Information Technology Services team, you will work closely with team to gain practical IT Services experience and technical expertise. The successful candidate will be exposed to Systems Analyst role focusing on SAP ERP system, SharePoint, Corporate Website, and Mining applications. This is a term position starting in March 2023 and ending in June 2023.

During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging tasks and assignments and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term. You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company.

Information Technology Intern will work Monday to Friday at Calgary Head office.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications, including application servers, associated hardware, endpoints, and databases
  • Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements
  • Develop, analyze, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, data mapping, diagrams, and flowcharts for developers and testers to follow
  • Translate highly technical specifications into clear non-technical requirements
  • Manage the set-up and configuration of systems
  • Define and coordinate the execution of testing procedures, and develop test cases to serve the overall quality assurance process
  • Provide documentation of all processes and training as needed
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, monitor systems health, gather system statistics, and troubleshoot reported errors and alarms
  • Perform design, implementation, and upgrades of information systems to meet the business and user needs

Education/Experience

  • A new graduate of bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, or equivalent experience.
  • A new immigrant with bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, or equivalent experience will be considered
  • Strong computer, software, database, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices associated with database maintenance and administration
  • Experience installing, configuring, documenting, testing, training, and implementing new applications and systems
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of programming languages
  • Excellent analytical skills

Additional Information

Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
