Position Summary:
As the Gordon Food Service supplier of smallwares, United is innovating in this space and looking for a driven, entrepreneurial and analytical Warehouse Lead Hand. This role will require the successful candidate the ability to lead a team and work with all levels of the organization from warehouse employees to senior management. Approximately Spring 2023, this position will transition to our new location at 1240 Ormont Drive, North York, ON, M9L2V4. Reporting to the Day Shift Supervisor, we expect this individual to continue their current role and build a growth strategy from the ground up and successfully execute upon our ambitious goals. Critical success factors include creating and maintaining an exceptional relationship with customers and staff, determining and implementing best practices that translate into flawless customer service.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the overseeing of the day shift staff and other processes/personnel to make sure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.

• Assist in providing training to current and new employees in all appropriate procedures and processes required to complete work assignments to solve day-to-day issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals

• Excellent judgment, diplomacy, and discretion

• Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize

• Builds and maintains relationships with employees.

• Develops individuals and serves as a role model and resource to them.

• Helps coordinate the day-to-day activities (schedules, workloads, timelines).

• Supports Process Safety Management (PSM) Standards.

• Motivates individuals to achieve High Performance Distribution metrics.

• Monitor the time and attendance system and make necessary adjustments as appropriate..

• Assists in conducting pre-shift meetings to communicate information.

• Maintain a safety culture; ensure staff are properly trained and adhere to the policies outlined in the Operations Safety handbook, and monitor warehouse safety according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

• Work as a backup to the Night Shift Lead Hand as per the need of the business.

• Assist other departments as required

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of previous Lead hand experience preferably in a Distribution setting is required

• Experience working in an effective, results focused team environment

• Excellent organization skills and time management in dealing with multiple projects and deadlines

• Problem solving abilities that require use of ingenuity and innovation

• Strong communication skills both verbal and written

• Experience and competency using spreadsheets. Experience on Google apps will be an asset.

• Written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.

• Must be self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision

• Strong customer service orientation

• Professional, mature demeanor under stressful situations.

• Must have knowledge of radio frequency guns.
