Our client, a leading manufacturer of plastic products, is actively looking to hire a Continuous Improvement Specialist - Distribution, to be based out of one of their locations in Woodbridge, ON. This will be a hybrid position.

Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is a member of the distribution team that drives operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives. He/she will analyze DC processes and make suggestions on areas of improvement. Working with DC management teams, the successful candidate will drive implementation and sustain improvements. The position is based in Woodbridge, Ontario and will require frequent travel (up to 40%) including to the US. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will report directly to the Manager of Distribution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste, and cost reduction.
  • Planning, facilitating and executing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging suggestions and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure DCs deliver world class customer service through operational excellence
  • Drive constant improvement in the distribution process
  • Ownership of change initiatives from evolution through to project delivery
  • Work closely with DCs to provide them with the necessary tools required to operate efficiently and to grow the business profitably
  • Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery and sustainability.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Company policy and procedures
  • Ensure that DCs maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Company policies and procedures

Experience & Skills

  • Requires a minimum of 5+ years work experience in a continuous improvement role within a distribution environment (i.e. WMS, DC automation and warehouse processes)
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification required; Black Belt certification preferred
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Warehousing, Kaizen, 5S etc.).
  • Experience in organizational effectiveness and implementing / driving best practices
  • Experience in successfully implementing change within an organization
  • Strong communication, active listening and influencing skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to oversee multiple projects at the same time
  • Proven ability to embrace and encourage teamwork
  • Possess effective planning, organizing and delegating skills
  • University degree or college diploma
