The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic rheumatologist in the role of Clinician Investigator (CI) or Clinician Scientist (CS) with a proven academic record of clinical research in the area of Osteoarthritis (OA). The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Anticipated start date of the appointment is July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.


The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Rheumatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).


The position requires a dedicated, accomplished general rheumatologist whose clinical and research areas of interest/expertise align with the divisional requirements. The candidate is expected to provide excellent clinical care in the outpatient setting and the inpatient consultation service, and will be engaged in rheumatology teaching and learner supervision at all levels. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out research, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades as well as grants relevant to the candidate’s stage of training/career. In particular, the expectation is that the individual will have completed a PhD in clinical epidemiology/health services or the equivalent training time in research. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Rheumatology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division of Rheumatology, composed of eight full time academic rheumatologists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement.


Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience of the candidate.
