The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is now accepting applications for multiple Lifeguard/Swim Instructor positions within the Aquatics Department. The ideal candidate should be energetic, self-motivated, enjoy working with youth, and be able to work in a team or independently. Nature and Scope Reporting directly to the Aquatics Lead. The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor will be responsible for the safety and well-being of everyone in the pool area and be able to teach various levels of swimming to all age groups. Responsibilities

•The safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the swimming pool

•Enforcing Ontario Pool regulations, rules and admissions standards

•Swim Instructors are required to teach various levels if swimming to all age groups, update swim lessonrosters weekly and prepare progress cards seasonally

•Effectively communicate with members and families

Qualifications

•Current National Lifeguard Certification (required)

•Current Standard First Aid Certification (required)

•Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required upon hire)

•Swim Instructor (recommended)

•Lifesaving Instructor (desirable)

•Any Aquatic Fitness certification (desirable)

Availability

•Part time hours (Scheduled shifts could include days, afternoons and weekends)
