The YMCA of Cape Breton is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to provide maintenance-related duties such as inspecting, identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment or machines, and other general repairs around the building. This position is located at the Frank Rudderham Family YMCA in Sydney, but also serves our remote site located in the Membertou Sports & Wellness Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Drywall repair/Painting, Minor Plumbing, minor carpentry and repairs, pool maintenance, equipment repairs

· Perform various daily, weekly, monthly inspections/preventative maintenance on equipment,

· Snow removal/lawn care, property care such as keeping the exterior grounds clean and presentable,

· Minor janitorial cleaning (when required),

· Ensures the safety of all participants, property, and self by following established Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures.

· Troubleshooting mechanical failure and equipment breakdowns; ordering parts as needed

· Consulting with Tech support for various products and companies

· Respond to requests call after hours, alarms, and facility emergencies.

Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Maintenance.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $17.00 per hour
