Manager - Cloud Landing Zones, Platform Engineering

We are currently seeking a highly motivated people leader for our Landing Zone & Cloud Networking Services teams. You will be responsible for leading a global team of engineers focused on developing and providing product solutions more quickly and efficiently across our public cloud estate. You will join our Platform Engineering organization, a fast-paced, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of Thomson Reuters.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Manager-Cloud Landing Zones, Platform Engineering, you will:

  • Collaborate with Service Architecture to collectively define and own the vision for the capabilities/services, aligning to company strategy and evangelizing throughout Thomson Reuters

  • Partner with other leaders within Platform Engineering to craft creative solutions and patterns for our Cloud Landing Zones that can be leveraged across Product Segments

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for service engineering teams

  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, including capacity planning, resource allocation, and cost management

  • Be a Cloud evangelist and advocate to push the envelope on what’s possible

  • Drive cohesion, standards, and best practices across platform services and capabilities in collaboration with application teams, security, compliance, and external vendors

  • Build a strong culture of engineering excellence and industry best practices

  • Coach, develop, and lead a diverse global team

  • Engineering for the following capabilities is currently within the scope of this role

    • Cloud Landing Zones (AWS, Azure)

    • Cloud Network Services (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)

About You

You are fit for the role of Manager - Cloud Landing Zones, Platform Engineering if your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent with relevant work designing and engineering in cloud-native applications.

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud computing, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, application networking/routing

  • Working knowledge of programming and scripting languages: Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, JavaScript, or similar languages

  • Passion for customer success and a deep desire to exceed expectations and Service Level Agreements

  • Certifications in AWS or Azure preferred.

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of Cloud engineers

  • Collaborate with technology peers to identify prioritized areas for service development and improvement while evangelizing new solutions

  • Partner with enablement and product delivery teams to increase the adoption of shared capabilities

  • Direct line management responsibilities for global teams, delivering performance reviews, and defining annual goals/metrics

  • Ability to flex styles to work well with a range of stakeholders from extremely technical engineers to non-technical business leaders.

  • A management style that is collaborative, energetic, and results-oriented and work with others to develop joint solutions and break down internal barriers.

  • Try new things, shift from “why we can’t” to “how we could” and reduce complexity
