The Township of Tiny is interested in hiring dedicated, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals for the position of March Break Day Camp Counselor.

Counselors are expected to be key members in the day camp team; generating new ideas, planning and implementing day camp activities, and supervising children ages 4 to 11 years old.

Responsibilities:

· Plan, facilitate, and deliver day camp programming; ensuring activities are fun, safe, diverse, and age appropriate as per the High Five Standards of Healthy Child Development.

· Assist in the delivery of the C.I.T program by mentoring C.I.Ts during day to day camp activities.

· Foster a camp environment which promotes inclusion and active living, concentrating on providing campers with an opportunity to increase self-esteem and create lasting friendships.

· Attend all meetings, training, and workshops in order to ensure understanding of all day camp policies, emergency procedures, and their application.

· Be aware of all camper dietary/medical/behavioural needs, and all relevant action plans and contracts.

· Keep accurate records (incl. planning sheets, incident reports, medical administration forms, timesheets, and C.I.T evaluation forms).

· Maintain a safe and clean camp environment.

· Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of day camp trips and initiatives.

· Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

· Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’ – required.

· Principles of Healthy Childhood Development – required.

· Experience Counselor in training - an asset.

· Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check prior to commencing employment.

Working Conditions:

  • Involves some physical exertion (i.e. moderate lifting).
  • Requires attention to detail and concentration.
