Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Position Description:
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director and is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating an effective marketing and communication program for the organization in alignment with the CAHS Strategic Plan.

The position is a permanent, part-time, 25-hour work week with flexibility required for some weekends and evenings.
Salary is $20-$25/hr, based on experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop promotions for adoptions and CAHS Programs
  • Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for all fund development and CAHS programming needs
  • Member of the CAHS Event Committee
  • Coordinate, create and distribute CAHS communications via various medias and platforms
  • Coordinate, create, monitor, analyze and manage CAHS social media; grow the CAHS’s social media reach
  • Continually assess the effectiveness of the website, manage and contribute content, manage website sponsorship program, perform updates as appropriate
  • Monitor & manage CAHS’ online presence
  • Coordinate, implement and attend offsite tradeshows and promotional and adoption events
  • Ensure all promotional and marketing materials meet the CAHS’ brand identity strategy
  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of all communication strategies
  • Video production/editing & photography for CAHS website, social media and marketing needs
  • Coordinate and produce print media advertisements with the CAHS graphic artist
  • Build relationships with our service area media and supporters to increase general awareness of CAHS
  • Distribute press releases, public service announcements and conduct or coordinate interviews with other CAHS staff as appropriate
  • Serve as point of contact for media
  • Research, write and produce donor-focused appeals
  • Create annual critical path, plan and calendar for marketing and promotions with effective timing and overlap
  • Be disciplined and have a precise approach to editing, proofreading and fact-checking
  • Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times while working as an employee of the Cochrane & Area Humane Society

Qualifications:

  • Genuine concern for the welfare of animals
  • Advanced knowledge in all social media platforms
  • Experience in marketing, promotions, communications & media relations
  • Demonstrated skill on multiple digital media platforms including WordPress, Google, MailChimp, Canva
  • Experience in graphic design an asset
  • Experience in animal welfare an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and etiquette
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Sound working knowledge of computers, photography and video
  • Outstanding organizational skills/time management
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/demands/issues
  • Great public relations skills
  • Demonstrates a high degree of discretionary judgement and critical thinking that align with the CAHS
  • Work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Professional attitude with clear understanding of confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a team environment
