Become part of a collaborative team supporting trail development, management and events through a paid position as a Marketing and Events Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Peaks-N-Valleys together with a team of passionate employees and volunteers from other local trail organizaitons including the Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association (FVMBA) and the Chilliwack Park Society to collaborate in support of trails in the Fraser Valley.

Who We Are Looking For:

Somebody that is passionate about the trails, outdoor recreation and bringing together our trail communities in the common goal to develop and maintain sustainable trail networks. These are some of the key requirements:

  • Excellent administrative skills with proven ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and shift priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Interact and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals, organizations and partners.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, all social media platforms including Instagram, FaceBook, MetaBusiness; experience in Wordpress, MailChimp, Canva, and Slack.
  • Knowledge of graphic design is an asset.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations in the recreational sector is an asset.

Hours and Location:

  • Hours are flexible.
  • Average of 10-15 hours per week but the exact number of hours will vary by month and are expected to be as follows: 10-15 hours per week April-May, 25-30 hours per week for June-July, 10-12 hours per week for August-October.
  • 7-month contract from April 3, 2023 to October 31, 2023.
  • Opportunity to grow the position and extend the contract term.
  • Work from home, but must be situated locally in the Fraser Valley. The successful candidate will need to have their own computer, internet connection and work space.

Position overview:

The Marketing and Events Coordinator will work directly with the Director/Owner of Peaks-N-Valleys to complete marketing and event administrative tasks internally as well as collaborate with other trail organizations. The Marketing and Events Coordinator will also engage and interact directly with these organizations, their respective board of directors and/or staff, members, volunteers and external stakeholders to increase capacity for each respective organization.

Primary tasks and responsibilities:

The Marketing and Events Coordinator will assist with the following activities for Peaks-N-Valleys and other partner organizations as directed:

  • Update website content, maintain online event calendars, coordinate blog posts.
  • Manage social media accounts for multiple recreation organizations, create content and maintain regular post schedules, monitor and reply to direct messages.
  • Design, collect and compile content for monthly eNewsletters and other member, volunteer and event participant communications.
  • Assist with, and in some cases, lead volunteer communication, coordination and management for events including trail and/or bike races, community trail days, etc.
  • Support administration of sponsor development, management and relations ensuring sponsorship agreements and expectations are met with respect to marketing/ social media.
  • Provide assistance with event logistics management as required, including event day.
  • Liaise with vendors, partners, sponsors in sourcing and obtaining merchandise, materials and equipment, and supplies as necessary.
  • Undertake related administrative and coordination duties as assigned consistent with the scope of this position.
  • Promote and contribute to a respectful and inclusive work environment; champion positive working relationships with our diverse community of partners and clients and their respective board of directors, members, volunteers.

Peaks-N-Valleys (PNV) is dedicated to providing management consulting services and event production to community centric outdoor recreation and trail based organizations located in and around the breathtaking peaks and valleys of Chilliwack, BC.

Peaks N Valleys was established in 2019 to foster advocacy and support for outdoor recreation opportunities in the Fraser Valley, specifically as they relate to sustainable trail based development, management and activity. A locally owned small business, PNV brings over 20 years of combined business consulting and event management experience to local non-profit and community organizations supporting outdoor recreation. PNV provides complete end to end business management and event production services.

In addition to consulting services, PNV produces and manages two signature trail racing events annually: Thursty Elk 25km, 5km & Kids Run in July and Loop the Vedder Trail Half Marathon, 10km & Kids Run in October.
