Who We Are:

Gloucester Family Health Centre is a new family medicine clinic in Ottawa that aims to provide comprehensive medical care to our community.

The Opportunity:

Our medical office assistants work to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. They will be responsible for the following:

  • Welcoming and registering patients
  • Taking phone calls and scheduling appointments
  • Assisting in managing medical charts within Oscar EMR
  • Records and document management using Oscar EMR
  • Collecting payments for privately billed services
  • Proper preparation of the patients (place in the room, measure and document height and weight, measure and document blood pressure)
  • Performing and assisting in medical procedures such as Immunization and Medication shots, Tb Tests as directed by the physician and the management
  • Ensure consistent inventory levels through the daily stocking of exam rooms and other areas of the clinic
  • Maintain a clean & quiet environment by cleaning/sanitizing exam rooms and waiting rooms
  • Proper opening and/or closing procedures of the clinic
  • Other duties as required by the management

Compensation:

  • $17-19/hour
  • There will be a 6-Month probationary period, after which the medical office assistant is eligible for a permanent position

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelors (Completed or Ongoing)
  • IMGs welcomed to apply
  • Medical Office Assistant Diploma Holder
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer software including MS Suite, ability to work with electronic medical records (EMR system)
  • Other office-related skills and experience include e-faxing, scanning, inventory maintenance, etc.
  • Flexibility, cooperation, and a team player
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public
  • Excellent organizational skills, judgment, tact, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • A non-judgmental and positive attitude

COVID-19 considerations:
We have reduced patient traffic in the clinic. We are conducting the vast majority of our appointments virtually. Patients who do have to come to the clinic are screened for COVID symptoms or exposure.
