The Medical Secretary provides complex secretarial support. The Medical Secretary performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a secretarial arts program from a recognized institution required. Minimum of three [3] years secretarial experience required. Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio. Requirements are as follows: Proficiency in spelling, punctuation and grammar; Word processing (Microsoft Word) speed: 60-70 w.p.m. Medical Terminology is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work independently with a minimum of direction or supervision in a stressful, active area with frequent interruptions. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize. Excellent degree of accuracy; attention to detail. Must handle all personal contacts with tact and diplomacy. Excellent discernment of sensitive or potentially sensitive issues and management of same in an environment requiring strict confidentiality. Familiarity with Connect Care is preferred.
