About the Opportunity

FIO has an opportunity for full-time Millwrights to join their team. This position is based at our Stratford, Ontario office.

The Millwrights will be responsible for equipment and tools, including stamping presses, robots, cooling systems. They will also be responsible for mechanical and electrical repairs for various manufacturing equipment and programming (PLC), and the implementation of continuous improvement activities to equipment including verification and effectiveness of the change.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Disassembling and assembling robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacing of circuit boards, sensors, controllers, servo motors (incl. encoders) as well as, mechanical components
  • Performing preventive or corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Maintaining repair and service reports of presses, robotic equipment, and automated production systems
  • Aligning, fitting, or assembling component parts using hand & power tools
  • Developing, correcting and verifying robotic path motions to ensure safety, quality, and equipment efficiency
  • Installing, programming, or repairing equipment, including programmable controllers, and VFD’s
  • Maintaining and repairing building equipment including air compressor system, water treatment system, and lighting
  • Validating all repairs and Preventive Maintenance activities by performing the 5-Piece Validation check
  • Following all safety rules, guidelines, and uses of the appropriate PPE, and raising potential safety hazards to others
  • Working with contractors as necessary to implement new equipment or modify existing equipment
  • Supporting and developing process improvements and Kaizen activities
  • Maintaining excellent 5S conditions
  • Assisting with 8-Step problem-solving activities
  • Demonstrating an understanding of FIO’s Environmental Policy and participating in programs that enhance environmental performance. Identifies and communicates any potential non-conformances

About You

To qualify, you must have 2+ years experience as a Millwright, and a Millwright Certificate of Qualification.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical experience
  • Demonstrated track record of showing sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities
  • Demonstrated track record of being proactive and oriented towards making improvements in systems and procedures
