Medical Office Program Assistant with Chilliwack Youth Health Centre
Hours 20-24 hours a week to be determined and negotiated with the successful candidate.
Three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with a usual start at noon.

Who are we?

The CYHC is a non profit society providing free, drop-in, low barrier medical and mental health care to young people ages 12 to 26.

It currently works with a distributed model, through services at two sites. The main site, open 3 afternoons a week (12:30pm to 7pm) is at the Neighborhood Learning Centre attached to Chilliwack Secondary, and second site is located at the Sto:lo Health building on Vedder Road in Sardis on Thursdays.

CYHC provides mental health, physical health and sexual health care through a team of counsellors, family physicians, and nurse practitioner. CYHC ‘s amazing team consists of staff, University Diploma students to Master level counselling trainees, supervised by doctoral student in psychology, overseen by a registered psychologist. Our medical team consists of a rotation of six physicians guided by our Medical Director.

CYHC is a unique and exciting place to work! With our drop in model three days a week, and a focus on relationship and collaboration, it is successful in meeting the medical and mental health needs of young people in our community.

Who are you?

As a Medical Office Program Assistant, you will report directly to the Program Manager as your overall supervisor as well as to the Medical Director for all medical specific matters.

You will be expected to provide the following:

- Greet all youth and help coordinate drop-in/phone-in appointments with physicians and Nurse Practitioner.
- Obtain youth demographic information
- Be able to accurately advise youth on outside resources (e.g. medical labs, etc. as directed physicians), and (e.g. mental health supports, as directed by counsellors).
- Be able to follow-up with medical lab results and provide the information to clinicians, and confirming medical appointments.
- To know medical supplied required, and be proficient in re-ordering to and restocking of medical supplies.
- Proficient in the use of Pharmanet.
- Ability to liaise with all CYHC team members, youth, staff, interns, other service providers, and families of youth.
- Must be a good role model for youth
- Monthly reports to the board.
- Professional written communication skills (e.g. emails, and formal letters), as directed by Physicians/Nurse Practitioner and the Program Manager.
- Experience in use with EMR programs like Jane or Oscar.
- Must have completed all COVID-19 Vaccinations and boosters, and willing to have future boosters as recommended the PHA and provide a Criminal Record Check.
- Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:
Must have:
Grade 12 Education, Minimum 1 year’s experience in a related position, with preference given towards those who have been a solo MOA, performing multiple duties.

Preferred:
Grade 12, Medical Office Administration diploma where your practicum had you performing multiple duties, and post graduation related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Benefits:

- This job is part-time 6.5hrs for 2-3 days per week; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Rate of pay is $23/hour, with education and experience combination.
- Other benefits are being researched, and will become available after successful completion of a probationary period. (Note: as these are still being researched, they are not currently in place).
