The Township of Tiny is interested in hiring dedicated, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals for the position of Mobile Skate Park Attendant.

The Mobile Skate Park Attendant is responsible for the safety, security, and well-being of children and youth participants at the Township of Tiny Mobile Skate Park.

The Mobile Skate Park Attendant assists in the activity planning process, receives special training to fully support children and leads them as they participate at the Mobile Skate Park.

Responsibilities:

  • To supervise and monitor the skate park area and implement programming as per the High Five Standards of Healthy Child Development (PHCD).
  • Encourage local youth to participate and ensure program and event information is current.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with youth.
  • Communicate with youth to listen to and learn of their needs and interests; identify areas where improvements are needed and communicate to appropriate Municipal staff.
  • Ensure programs promote social, physical, cognitive and emotional development in youth and follow relevant policies and procedures.
  • Confirm the physical environment is clean and suitable for the operation of the mobile skate park and report any concerns to the Community Recreation Coordinator.
  • Conduct basic skateboard/bike/scooter equipment maintenance.
  • Enforce skate park rules and regulations in a positive, professional manner and implement behavior management strategies when needed.
  • Monitor and ensure safe equipment and facility use.
  • Distribute and collect borrowed equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain records; collect statistical data and forward to appropriate Municipal staff.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current Certification in Standard First Aid /Level C CPR.
  • Certified in Principles of Healthy Childhood Development.
  • Knowledgeable in skateboarding/BMX/scootering culture an asset.
  • Valid G2/G Level License an asset.
  • High energy, self-starter.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to problem solve effectively.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age on the first day of work.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check prior to commencing employment.
  • Bilingualism an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Involves some physical exertion (i.e. moderate lifting).
  • Requires ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Requires attention to detail and concentration.
