TotalCardiology is currently taking applications for a permanent Nurse Practitioner (NP) to work in our outpatient cardiology practice.

• Hours: Schedule based on clinic hours Monday – Friday 7:30 – 4:30
• Salary: $ 52.41 – 70.00/hour

Job Summary:

This unique position involves facilitating patient care in our diagnostic, clinical care and rehabilitation settings. With the support from the Medical Director(s), cardiologist(s) and TC physicians and staff the NP will provide direct care using advanced assessment skills to direct the evidence-based diagnosis, intervention, referral and education for acute coronary syndrome, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia including but not limited to:

i) reinforcing medication adherence and ensuring all appropriate medications are initiated and titrated,

ii) ordering and/or following up or relevant diagnostic tests,

iii) arranging further follow-up with existing primary care provider and triaging specialist follow-up,

iv) facilitating and communicating a patient-specific care plan,

v) delivering staff education and taking part in research as needed, and

vi) participating on the emergency code team.

Required Qualifications:

· Graduation from a recognized nursing education program. A master’s degree in nursing with a focus on Advanced Clinical Practice. Must have current registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) in the NP adult stream with current experience as an NP in an acute care setting, preferably cardiac care.

· A minimum of 5 full-time years of related experience as a Registered Nurse.

· Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

· Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Demonstrated ability to function effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable working directly with patients and their family members.

· Demonstrated strong clinical, critical thinking and prioritization skills.

· Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

· Experience with the development and/or implementation of evidence based practice.

• High level of initiative and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.

· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ACCURO EMR.
