We are currently seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our team in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Operations Supervisor is a hands-on position that assists the Terminal Manager with the day to day operations of the terminal. Activities include: overseeing dock, dispatch, and drivers; ensuring business operations are efficient, effective and meet overall customer standards. These duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in leading the operations team to the fullest capacity to meet the needs of customers
  • Provide positive customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Supervise, lead and coach employees in all areas of operations including safety, efficiency in dispatch’s management of deliveries and pickups, loading and unloading trucks, claim management, and equipment and yard management
  • Monitor freight movement to ensure maximum load factors and service levels to minimize claims
  • Communicate regularly with the Terminal Manager on opportunities and risks to the business
  • Track, monitor and report on key KPI’s that include productivity, utilization, and service levels
  • Plan work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing requirements
  • Develop and execute training plans for lead hands to train dock employees
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss and damage

Qualifications
Ideally, candidates have 2-5 years operational experience in freight handling, experience with freight handling software and have demonstrated leadership and organizational skills to work with a diverse workforce. Must be flexible and agile to react to the needs of the business. Operational experience in LTL freight transportation or similar area preferred. Experience using all Microsoft Office programs at a proficient level is necessary.
