The Opportunity

Ancora Waterfront Dining & Patio’s cuisine manifesto is hinged on sustainable seafood, while sourcing local and international ingredients, and draws inspiration from its Pacific Northwest surroundings. Understanding the city's dining evolution has inspired Ancora to create a menu that accommodates all of its diners' culinary desires, combining flavours and techniques which embrace several diverse cultures in a modern, yet approachable setting.

We are looking for a Pastry Chef at our False Creek location to be responsible for the development and production of desserts and pastry-related recipes and maintain the highest level of food quality. The successful candidate is one who is an energetic and motivated team player who works well under pressure in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Work independently to prepare and execute a variety of recipes for cakes, pastries, laminated doughs, bread, tarts, and confections.
  • Execute recipes consistently according to the recipes and standards in terms of taste and appearance.
  • Maintain inventory and stock levels.
  • Demonstrate safe food handling and keep food preparation areas clean.
  • Ensure compliance with food and Health and Safety standards.
  • Take part in daily kitchen cleaning at the end of the work shift.
  • Responsible for operating and monitoring the proper functioning of equipment such as convection ovens, dough mixers, proofer, dough sheeter, and cooler/freezer, reporting malfunctions when presented.
What You Have

  • Previous work experience in a similar capacity is an asset.
  • Completion of culinary training in baking and pastry.
  • Reliable, professional, highly motivated, efficient, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work efficiently and in an organized manner.
  • Reliable and has a strong work ethic.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada to be considered.
