PRINCIPAL POSITIONS

(Full-Time, permanent)

Effective September 2023

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,000 students in 18 schools. Greater Sudbury is 3,627 square kilometers in area, making it the geographically largest municipality in Ontario and second largest in Canada. Greater Sudbury is considered a city of lakes, containing 330 lakes and the largest lake contained within a city, Lake Wanapitei. Our school board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning.

The Board is seeking collaborative, exemplary school leaders. We are interested in candidates who demonstrate practices that are consistent with the Boards mission, vision and values, as well as evidence of success in the components of the Ontario Leadership Framework and the accompanying Personal Leadership Resources.

Essential Qualifications:
Principal Qualification Program (PQP)

Religious Education Part II or equivalent

Ministry of Labour Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness in 5 Steps training (available on-line)

The Successful candidate demonstrates:
a clear vision of the mission of a Catholic school and an ability to inspire, challenge, motivate and empower others to carry the vision forward;

effective Catholic leadership and a demonstrated ability to promote a respectful, equitable and caring environment (as demonstrated through the treatment of others);

values parents/guardians as partners and demonstrates a proven commitment to working with parents and the community;

a proven ability to build and nurture a team environment and a commitment to the promotion of effective communication;

highly developed problem-solving and conflict resolution skills and well defined sense of diplomacy;

a demonstrated commitment to working with others to close the achievement gap through effective

instructional practices and an understanding of the use of data to improve student learning, including a strong understanding of effective assessment practices and differentiated instruction;

experience in creating safe learning environments that uphold the values of equity, diversity and inclusion;

a positive, fair and effective approach to discipline;

knowledge and experience in addressing the needs of all students, including an understanding of the IPRC process;

superior interpersonal skills with a sensitive, professional approach;

well-developed oral and written communication skills;

knowledge of current Ministry initiatives, including Student Success, STEM, Literacy and Numeracy;

a flexible approach and well-developed organizational skills;

well-developed personal leadership resources including: optimism, self-efficacy, resilience, proactivity and systems thinking;

a commitment to French as a Second Language learning and to creating a whole school environment that promotes all facets of the FSL program, including culture, oral and written communication;

French-as-a-Second Language and/or the ability to communicate in French is an asset;

Special Education Part 1 is an asset.
