Martin's Family Fruit Farm is one of Canada’s largest apple growers, packers and processors. Martin’s operates a State-of-the-Art processing facility in Elmira, Ontario where we produce our famous Crispy Apple Chips, Apple Cider, fresh sliced apples for commercial bakeries and our newest production line, apple puree.

We are presently looking for a motivated self-starter Lead Hand for our afternoon shift. We offer a competitive wage, fixed shift, shift premium, full benefits and a great team at Martin's!

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position will provide leadership to a team of approximately 15 members on afternoon shift. This is a hands-on role that will keep production on schedule and ensure assigned tasks are completed safely and efficiently. They will have a good understanding of all equipment and processes within the plant and act as back-up to other positions as needed.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 11:15pm, with Saturday work as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Work safely at all times and ensure health & safety and food safety policies and procedures are being followed
• Responsible for productivity, quality and efficiency on shift and ensuring staff rotation throughout the processing plant
• Provide regular communication with management on updates and issues
• Create and maintain a positive work atmosphere and employee morale
• Fill out required documentation as per Food Safety / BRC Program requirements
• Assist other areas including cleaning facility

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a food production facility plant
• Experience leading and coaching a team
• Ability to operate various types of machinery
• Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to troubleshoot, devise solutions and apply continuous improvement practices
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
