Job Summary

The Welder’s report to the weld department supervisors and Lead Hands entails production welders and related machine operators require the following skills and abilities. This position requires rotating shifts on a bi-weekly basis (days and afternoons) with overtime from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the equipment at all times in compliance with safety rules, regulations and requirements. Ensure all PPE required is used, all guards are in place.
  • Perform MIG welding on metal parts
  • Work in a safe/productive manner, with the ability to maintain quality of welds and parts to expected standards.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet quality standards
  • Ability to competently set up weld machines voltage and amperage according to weld process specifications (WPDS) and trouble shoot weld non-conformance issues
  • Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
  • Limited operation of manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Demonstrate ability to setup, operate, and adjust fixturing to build parts to related drawing and blueprints, specs and dimensioning
  • Understand all fixturing to operate, adjust, setup, lockout and troubleshoot basic operation issues
  • Use basic mathematics including fractions, measurements, and geometry to ensure material is welded to spec.
  • Working with machinery and metals
  • Knowledge of metals, relevant product codes, regulations and laws
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with all 2S/5S related activities
  • May be certified to use cranes and related material handling devices to perform their job

Qualifications

  • CWB Certification Preferred (W46.1, 3mm and above, D1.3 VD)
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Minimum one-year experience preferred
  • Hands on experience in manufacturing environment working with plant machinery
  • Experience working in a production environment with the ability to maintain a safe, productive, quality minded work environment.
  • Physical strength and endurance ability to lift up to 50Ibs
  • Able to concentrate on detailed work for long periods
  • Able to bend and work in awkward positions
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to work alone or in a group
  • Ability to use and read tape measure
  • Ability follow direction/instructions both written and verbal
  • Ability to keep up to date with changing technology
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure

Job Type: Permanent
