York Professional Pet Sitting and Dog Walking is a locally owned and operated professional pet care service serving pet parents in Newmarket/Aurora/Sharon and Holland Landing area and we are looking to add dog walkers and pet sitters to our ever-growing team of professional pet care specialists.

What does a Pet Sitter or Dog Walker do?

We are in the peace of mind business. We provide peace of mind to pet parents who are busy working or traveling.

We visit clients’ homes and care for their pets and homes. This includes taking dogs out for walks, letting dogs out in the yard to play fetch, cleaning up after pets, feeding and providing fresh water, scooping litter boxes, providing medications if needed, and of course, loving them and providing lots of TLC and belly rubs! For traveling clients, watering plants, taking bins to and from curb and collecting mail may be necessary.

You will drive to these appointments with your vehicle, check in and check out of each appointment using our mobile app, and write nice informative updates with pictures to let clients know how their pets are doing. As well as communicate with our team via Slack.

What does the schedule look like?

This position is a flexible part-time job. Some weeks will be busier than others depending on the needs of our clientele. We have two schedules for different staffing needs that can be merged into one depending on your availability:

• Midday Weekday Dog Walker/Hiker: Be available 5 days a week Monday to Friday from 8 AM-3 PM for recurring midday weekday walks for clients we see every week. Shifts can be as short as 2 hours and as long as 6-8 hours. Growing into a full-time position is possible for candidates with the right expertise and availability.
• Travel Care Pet Sitter: Be available for those non-recurring but commonly required visits for clients who travel. Think of families who are out of town and book 3-4 visits a day. Sometimes there could be only 1 dinnertime visit or 4 dinnertime visits.

Regardless, we work with the whole team's availability and proximity to clients’ homes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Physical ability to sit, walk dogs for 30 mins - 1 hour at a time, climb stairs, bend down, kneel.
• Must be based within our service area. The closer you live to our clients, the more profitable, practical, and beneficial the job is for you. Think of your time = your money.
• Have your own reliable registered/fully insured vehicle and a valid Driver's License- you will need to travel to/from clients’ homes.
• Have a smartphone with data, photo/video/ capability and be able to operate one.
• Be available for the shifts/availability you set up consistently.
• Be available year-round - this position is not seasonal. Please only apply if you can commit to all 12 months of the year. Our clients, human and furry, appreciate consistency.
• Be available to work at least 2 statutory holidays a year - this is a 365 day a year service.
• Be comfortable walking dogs and driving in all types of weather - rain, snow, and heat. We are a year-round service and dogs still need to be taken out and exercised. We do have restrictions and safety measures for very extreme weather for dog walkers and dogs' safety.
• Must ADORE animals and geninuley care about their health, happiness and general well being (no formal experience is required)- we have a formal paid training program that will teach you everything you need to know and get you Pet CPR Certified.
• Must be OK caring for both cats and dogs
• Be able to pass a background check - Employment Offers are contingent on the successful completion of a background check.
