Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Business Development, this position involves needs identification, financial feasibility, development, implementation, marketing, and ongoing evaluation of a large and growing number of courses and programs in Continuing Education. This includes the coordination and development of courses and programs, participation in the selection, mentoring, and evaluation of the part-time instructors required to teach said courses and programs, as well as the guiding and advising of students who are looking to pursue opportunities in the areas of study within the incumbent's portfolio. The incumbent interacts with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain high quality programming within provincial and College guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews course outlines to ensure alignment with College and provincial requirements
  • Participates in quality assurance initiatives for programs and courses within the portfolio
  • Plans course/program activity on an ongoing basis
  • Investigates and determines program and course requirements, continuance and restructuring based upon market research, industry, and students needs, and aligning with College and provincial guidelines
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and community organization/businesses to create and support programming
  • Supports current and potential students interested in opportunities
  • Evaluates admission requirements according to guidelines and in collaboration with other College departments
  • Resolves concerns/conflicts from students, instructors and other stakeholders
  • Reviews and selects instructors and provides ongoing support providing input on progress and performance based on student evaluations and quality assurance processes
  • Controls expenses relating to course or programs being offered to meet revenue targets
  • Monitors income/expenses per course/program to determine viability
  • Assists in the creation of a variety of marketing materials to target groups, agencies and learners
  • Promotes programs and courses and services to the community and through public information, trade shows, open houses, and information booths
  • Supports the team as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a three (3) year diploma or degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Adult Education, or a relevant field in combination with credentials in Education studies (i.e. Facilitator of Adult Learning, degree in Education)
  • Five (5) years of experience working in a business or educational setting
  • Prior experience teaching, learning, or coordinating programming in learning environments considered an asset
  • Proven self-starter with highly developed interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial spirit to proactively and collaboratively build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills to coordinate and maintain a breadth of activities and instructors
  • Proficient using a variety of word processing and spreadsheet software, learning management systems, and student information systems
