JOB SUMMARY

The CCEY Information, Training and Engagement Unit provides customized channel management and communications strategies for families and service providers, develops and implements information materials, resources and training, and consults and engages segments of child care and early years sector and the public to ensure current and future services meet local needs.

You are responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day delivery and operations of the CCEY Information, Training and Engagement Unit’s programs and services.

Programs, services, projects, and activities include:

Communication and Information – develop, maintain and evaluate customized channel management venues for providing program information and communicating with families, service providers, key stakeholders, partners and agencies.

Education and Training – facilitating on-boarding, orientation, support, and training for service delivery partners on policies, systems and tools, development of tools, professional development training, communities of practice, and continuous improvement forums for the CCEY sector

Outreach and Engagement – partnership management, network of stakeholder advisory groups, consultations and feedback sessions, policy pulse-checks, client and public surveys, joint system planning, advisory meetings, etc. Create and implement plans and strategies that engage diverse groups to ensure representation and the application of a diversity, equity and inclusion lens that reduce barriers and ensure system integration and responsiveness.

You are also responsible for managing the unit’s human (including contracted services- such as specialized professional trainers and speakers, event planners, digital services agencies, media and public awareness firms, public opinion researchers) resources, and stakeholder and partner relationships.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of a 4-year university degree in child and family services, human services, social services business administration, public administration or another related field

5 years of related experience in the delivery of child care, social services or a related field, including developing adult training and education, and resource information, with a minimum of 2 years in the management of human and financial resources

  • Social Services and Children’s Services programs and services funded at a municipal, provincial and federal level;
  • Outreach and communication strategies that foster stakeholder participation and engagement
  • Adult learning and training methodologies
  • Channel management creation and customization
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution techniques and strategies
  • The City of Ottawa’s organizational, governance and administrative structures
  • Legislation, regulations, policies, standards and guidelines relevant to the work
  • Industry trends and developments
  • Business administration concepts, theories, principles and methodologies
  • Corporate policies, guidelines and practices
  • The various Collective Agreements in place at the City
  • Understanding of the programs/services and operations of other City areas, and the inter-relationships between them and own work area
  • MS Office and digital media tools
  • Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
