Job Description


The Program and Project Management (PPM) Group of AECOM is actively seeking a pragmatic, highly talented and experienced project controls lead for immediate employment in the office located in GTA, ON.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager , PPM, Canada is currently seeking a Project Controls Lead Specializing in Project Controls, scheduling and Construction/Design Claims.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Lead a team of schedulers and project controllers with various task orders within the project.
  • Leads the effort in the areas of project controls, scheduling, scheduling analysis, earned value management, and construction activities in support of projects
  • Providing guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems. May interface with management and clients, attend regular meetings, and give statistical reports.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and forecasting current status against an established baseline schedule and budget. Reporting status of schedule and budget to appropriate project management team as well and Management team on the client side.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and forecasting project costs and performance using earned value management system (EVMS) data. Understanding and ability to produce cost and schedule variance, SPI, CPI, etc. Assessing the impact(s) of design/construction/commissioning-startup, and transition to operations changes and schedule slippages.
  • Communicating, interfacing, and coordinating with project team, finance personnel, project managers, accounts payable personnel, accounts receivable personnel, contracts personnel, Audit Agencies, human resources, management, and other professional staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Presenting conclusions and making recommendations by analyzing facts and conditions, and making recommendations for corrections or improvements.
  • Understanding and applying the provisions and terms and conditions of contracts, government regulation requirements, and ensuring compliance with various client policies and procedures.
  • Customizing project control systems and reports to meet specific project requirements.
  • Accumulating and accessing historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting.
  • Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Claims avoidance i.e. identification of potential claims, intake, evaluation, strategy, documentation, monitoring, mitigation, resolution, and litigation support.
  • Drafting task orders for AECOM’s claims consultants contracts;
  • Assisting the Contracting Officer with requests for a final written determination; and providing litigation support.


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements :

In order to be considered, candidates must have at least a BA/BS + 10 Years of relevant experience, or if candidates do not have this, they should have the demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications :

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Accounting, or Finance (or equivalent.)
Experience in project control cost estimating, critical path method (CPM) scheduling and analysis, cost phasing and control, and EVMS metric analysis.
Knowledge of time impact analysis methods and techniques.
Working knowledge of industry standard tools such as Primavera P6, and MS Office software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint et c.)
Knowledge and experience in project contract administration for various various types of contracts (eg. firm-fixed price, fixed-price with economic price adjustment, cost reimbursement, cost sharing, cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-award-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee.
