Canada Pump and Power is looking for Pump Operators for our project in Gogama, Ontario! If you have previous Industrial pump experience, send in a resume today!

12 hour days - Overtime after 8 hours a day and weekends, 14 days on/14 days off. Camp accommodations and bussing from Sudbury or Timmins provided.

Pump Operators are responsible to safely operate, monitor, and maintain pumping systems and all supporting equipment required for pumping system operations. Responsibilities also include meeting the standard of housekeeping for the worksite and all equipment as well as communicating verbally and in writing as directed by the Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work safely and adhere to and work within all Company, customer, and worksite standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Conduct work hazard analysis and report ALL potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA) as required by the OH&S legislation and to report all non-conformances in products, processes, and services
  • Maintain pumping systems through performing hourly equipment and system checks and conducting regular fueling and fluid checks
  • Equipment and systems isolations (lockout/tagout)
  • Inspect worksite daily and maintain good housekeeping of all equipment and worksite and report required maintenance
  • Perform and document pre-use equipment inspections
  • Maintain an hourly pump performance log, jobsite specific logbook, and complete equipment status forms as required
  • Safely operate a pickup truck to and from various locations on the worksite, tow and position trailered pumps, and to maintain good housekeeping of the truck
  • Review and adhere to job plans, arrange required supplies and equipment, conduct pipeline installation, position discharge and suction lines, conduct quality assurance checks on all jobs, and participate in system commissions and shutdowns
  • Operate a pickup truck to and from various worksite locations in a safe manner and adhere to all OH&S legislation and site specific safe operating procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Training (WHMIS)
  • Global Harmonized System (GHS)
  • Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must participate and pass screening tests for drugs, alcohol, and other controlled substances
  • Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Interactions with other employees, customers, and contractors
  • Occasionally exposed to noisy and/or wet environments
  • Occasionally exposed to inclement weather conditions
  • Able to work day and/or night shifts up to 12 hours long with irregular break schedule
  • Capable of moving over and around obstacles
  • Capable of lifting large or heavy loads sometimes up to 18 kg
