Are you a Registered Nurse looking for an opportunity to work in a fast paced clinical setting? The Registered Nurse Diagnostic Cardiology is a valued member of the Red Deer Diagnostic Cardiology team and responsible for crucial cardiac diagnostic work within the Central Zone. With minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse utilizes highly developed communication, organizational and leadership skills, while problem solving and promoting excellence in nursing practice. With in-depth knowledge, advanced judgment, and clinical experience in Cardiology, the RN will be responsible for completing specialized diagnostic studies for numerous complex cardiac issues. The Registered Nurse will promote the use of evidence-based practice, provide expert support and consultation, and work with key stakeholders to promote continuity of patient care in both acute and ambulatory settings. The position will report to the Unit Manager of Diagnostic Cardiology working within the Diagnostic Cardiology department of the Red Deer Regional Hospital. You will provide safe, quality client-and-family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Red Deer is Alberta's third largest city with a population of 100,418 and is located along the QEII highway between Calgary and Edmonton. Some of the amenities within the city of Red Deer include the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, as well as the Sunnybrook Farm Museum, Fort Normandeau, the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, and the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery. There are also several multi-use recreational centers including the Collicutt Centre, G.H. Dave Community Centre and Michener Aquatic Centre, great for families of all ages.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years current clinical experience in relevant specialty area. Advanced expertise in communication and leadership. Broad knowledge of nursing concepts. Strong knowledge of adult learning principles. Knowledge of health care organizations and current trends. Knowledge of research ethics application process. Demonstrated clinical leadership especially in the area of nursing specialty practice. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to LEADS Framework. Strong Project Management skills. Highly developed organizational skills and problem-solving ability. Effective change agent. Experience demonstrated with resource and time management. Evidence of effective leadership in conflict resolution. Public speaking skills in small and large group settings. Strong skills in group process. Experience with Cardiac devices, including pacemakers, ICD’s, and Loop recorders, as well as experience with implantation, interrogation, and generator repairs. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, relevant skills and experience will be considered.

Effective listening skills. Navigation of various information sources. Strong skills in group process. Competence in Microsoft office. Competence in other clinical software packages is an asset (i.e. Meditech, TRACER, net CARE, electronic medical records, Intellispace, MUSE, MARS, Pace Art, & ongoing involvement with Connect Care). Management and/or Leadership training. AIW training. Crucial Conversations or equivalent. Disclosing Unanticipated Medical Outcome.
