The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority is a dynamic and evolving healthcare agency that provides health program support to its four northern partners - Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Lac La Ronge Indian Band, and Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.


POSITION MANDATE

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Public Health Unit, the Researcher supports the NITHA Project Coordinator, NITHA Project Lead, Steering Committees and Partner organizations with special projects of NITHA, such as the Cancer Project and is responsible to plan, implement and coordinate research activities and to assist in evaluating the project(s).


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of research principles and practices. He/she must have excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of situations. The qualifications, knowledge, and accountabilities include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field, specializing in research analysis
  • At least two (2) years experience working in statistical research and analysis setting preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of research methodologies, program evaluation, performance measures, analysis principles, techniques, and ethics
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the First Nations principles of OCAP
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze statistical data and service trends information and to summarize information to assist with the development and maintenance of the project(s)
  • Knowledge of statistical applications
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and collaborate as a strong team member
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating meetings and prevention campaigns
  • A high standard of confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Experience working in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset
  • A Valid Driver’s License
