Reporting to the Geologist as a member of the Geology & Quality Control Department in collaboration with other departments. The Sampler will apply best sampling practices in data capture and handling, while adhering to daily QA/QC plans. The Sampler performs daily sampling and related activities for the Mining Operations, Processing Operations, Hauling Operations, and Railing Operations. The Sampler will drive the department daily sampling goals and objectives while respecting industrial best practice, and promoting TSMC Health, Safety and Environment Policy.

Sampler
to join their highly skilled team to work on a
Fly-in/Fly-out basis of
2 Weeks On/Off with a standard
12 hours/day schedule
, to and from the Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville, QC.

The Sampler will apply best sampling practices in data capture and handling, while adhering to daily QA/QC plans. The Sampler performs daily sampling and related activities for the Mining Operations, Processing Operations, Hauling Operations, and Railing Operations. Please note that this is a six (6) months contract positions, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility will include daily collection and lab submittal of all samples, including blast hole, ROM, product, and train samples and exploration core and chip samples;
- Maintains COC and all related spreadsheets for samples and the sampling process;
- Organizing and storing of all reference and reject samples, pick up and documentation of drill core;
- Assist geologist with daily data entry;
- Assist Geologist during exploration activity;
- Drill / Blast hole management (updates/reporting);
- Daily implementation of grade control and QC/QA plans;
- Drill site environment, health and safety checks to ensure compliance by drill contractors;
- Performing daily sampling activities to achieve department goals;
- All other duties as may be assigned
Requirements and Skills
- Training in the fundamentals of mining and prospecting is an asset
- Prior experience in mining production is an asset
- Should be able to lift 50 lbs (22.7 kg), and the ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
- Adherence to health-safety and environment rules and guidelines
- Functional level of Microsoft excel and word
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. A good communicator in English is necessary
- MUST possess a valid Canadian class 5 driver's license
- Comfortable working around haul trucks and other heavy equipment
- Ability to integrate in a multicultural team
- Autonomous, multitasking, and flexible
- Willingness to learn and Ability to perform under pressure.
