About the team


SAP Canada Services Delivery team is a team of delivery experts that deliver on Premium Engagement and professional services contracts within Canada for our highest value customers.The team have a mix of Program Managers, project managers, assocatite project managers, Lead Technical Quality managers and technical quality managers. The team are responsible for delivering high quality projects for both on premise and cloud solutions.


What you’ll do


Position Title: SAP iXp Intern - Project Management Assistant


Location: Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa


Expected Start Date: December 2022


Contract Duration: 12 months; 40 hours per week


The Project Management Associate is the entry position on the Project Management career path. The Project Management Associate works under direct supervision of a Project Manager or Program Manager.


The Project Manager Associate provides operational assistance to the Project Manager and the delivery Team, in the establishment and administration of Project Management processes, including tracking and reporting of implementation, schedule and financial status. Shadowing the Project Manager, the Project Manager Associate progressively acquires experience and can take full ownership of well-defined Project Management Office tasks, by delegation of the Project Manager. The Project Management Associate must get familiar with the project scope and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member. The Project Management Associate must learn the project management lifecycle, SAP delivery tools and methodologies with the main objective to consolidate the foundations to progress towards the next level Project Management role.


Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks
The Project Management Associate Responsibility and Tasks focus essentially on performing operational functions in the Project Management Office of a project and/or program, during the execution phase.


This role may include the following tasks:

  • Where applicable and depending on the Project Manager, Project attributes and Associate experience, provide support to the Project Manager for engagement during the Sales cycle of the project
  • Where applicable and depending on the Project Manager, Project attributes and Associate experience, provide support to the Project Manager for the Sales to Delivery Handover
  • Assist in the coordination, planning and management of cross-functional project execution activities
  • Assist with compliance to project requirements and standards
  • Assist with internal escalations
  • Capture project status and supporting metrics and communicate these data points to the Project Manager
  • Ensure proper use of methodology, tools and procedures by Project team members
  • Support planning and execution of formal Quality Gate process following the Q-Gate approach in SAP Activate methodology
  • Assist in Resource Management process, creating and tracking resource requests
  • Assist with financial planning and reporting tools
  • Assist with the capture and recording of inputs for financial planning and management; including capture of project team timesheets (including external parties), effort expensed, project costs, project invoices etc.
  • Track subcontractor activities (timesheets) and deliverables, as per contracting model
  • Assist with tracking and monitor project change requests
  • Assist with RAID Meetings, documentation, invitations, minutes
  • Assist with management and documentation of project deliverable reviews and review sessions
  • Assist with minutes of reviews and related project approvals
  • Assist Project Manager with Project Sponsors and Project review Boards; including development of content, meeting minutes etc.
  • Assist with project escalations
  • Assist with management and tracking of key project documents and deliverables
  • Participate in project weekly/monthly meetings, and in Project Reviews;
  • Assist with the capture of Lessons Learnt
  • Ensure the Meeting Minutes and Project Documents are properly shared and archived
  • Demonstrates the ability to work within a matrix organization

Work Experience

  • 0-3 years of experience as team-lead or senior consultant
  • Project coordination or administrative project management specialist functions
  • Team Lead or prior Project Management experience is an advantage
  • Exposure to working in multilayered teams is an advantage
  • Exposure to cross-cultural projects and working environments is an advantage
  • Good people skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work within a matrix organization
  • Any international experience is an advantage.
  • English: Fluent, second language an advantage


Education

  • University degree is preferred with equivalent work experience as an alternative


Professional Training & Certification

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel)
  • MS Project (Orange Belt minimum)
  • SAP Activate Methodology Training and Certification
  • PMP Fundamentals class certification, or similar preferred including industry and project management certifications (e.g. CAPM certification)
  • PtD - Promise to Delivery exposure an advantage
  • Training, exposure or understanding of Solution Manager an advantage
  • Successful completion of certifications targeted at this level
