Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a temporary part-time (approximately 0.714 FTE) Mechanics 10, 20, 30, Science Jr/Sr High and Career Foundations Jr. High Teacher at Vegreville Composite High. An adjustment in FTE may be available based on the successful candidates' teachable subject areas and experience. All subjects and elective courses would be at the junior and senior high levels.

Vegreville Composite High serves approximately 360 students in grades 7 to 12, with 19 teaching staff and 10 support staff. The school is located in Vegreville, AB, approximately 90 kilometres east of Sherwood Park, AB.

Vegreville Composite High prepares each student to contribute fully to the community by developing responsibility, respect, and a desire for lifelong learning.

Commencing August 29, 2023 to January 30, 2023. Depending on student course selections and demand, the assignment may be extended in Semester 2 for the same FTE.

Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to EIPS teachers who hold a continuous contract and meet the minimum requirements of the position

The successful candidate will:
Have Journeyman Mechanic certification or in progress

Have Knowledge of Alberta Apprenticeship training and opportunities

Class 2 Drivers license is an asset

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
