Shawano Management is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for Security Guards to join our team with Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual/On-call positions at The Southeast Wellness Lodge located at 225 Masters Ave in the RM of West St. Paul, 5mins drive North of Winnipeg.
The Security Guard will be the first point of contact for Staff, Clients/Residents, and Visitors. This role is an integral position while working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment. It requires the ability to communicate with Staff, Clients/Residents, and Visitors with respect and dignity throughout the entire shift.
The Security Guard must be dependable and reliable, requiring excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and a high level of professionalism. This position also requires a person to uphold strict confidentiality within this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greeting staff, visitors, and residents.
  • Checking visitors in and out.
  • Securing assigned posts.
  • Patrolling facility and property on foot.
  • Completing task/check lists.
  • Checking and responding to emails in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring of CCTV systems.
  • Protect the facilities assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues.
  • Prevent losses and damage be reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures.
  • Controlling parking lot flow by directing delivery drivers, client/resident arrivals, and discharges.
  • Assisting with incoming deliveries, securing invoices, delivering parcels within the facility.
  • Completing reports (incident reports, daily shift reports) by recording observations, information, irregular occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses.
  • Maintaining organizations stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to staff, clients/residents, and visitors.
  • Documenting and communicating/relaying information to Managers or Team Leads.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts
  • Possibility of 12-hour shifts
  • Facility hours of operation 24 hours a day 365 days a year including Holidays
  • Open availability 7 days a week
  • Monday-Friday (12:00am-8:00am); (8:00am-4:00pm) and (4:00pm-12:00am)
  • Saturday-Sunday (12:00am-8:00am); (8:00am-4:00pm;) (4:00pm-12:00am); (8:00am-8:00pm) or (8:00pm-8:00am)
  • Overtime may be required

Summary of Requirements

  • Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of Security Guard experience
  • A valid Manitoba Security Guard License
  • A valid Standard First Aid / CPR-C / AED
  • Skills to deal with challenges and communicate with, clients and visitors
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records
  • Carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to move/carry heavy objects up to 50 Lbs.
  • Ability to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs.
  • Willingness to complete any addition tasks given by the management team (tasks my vary from regular security duties)

Operational Requirements:
  • Willing and able to work extended/modified hours on short notice.

Language:
  • The ability to read and write English (required)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate/speak in a First Nations language(s) (i.e., Ojibway/Cree/Oji-Cree, etc.) Not required but would be a definite asset.

As a condition of employment, candidate must successfully complete the following checks;
  • Criminal Record Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Search).
  • Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Adult Abuse Registry Check

Others:
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers License.
