We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our lean and innovative consultancy.

We are a small consultancy providing Finance and Accounting support and Reconciliation Services to a number of B2B and B2C brands in the digital space. These services mainly support customer payments at high volume.

The successful candidate will collaborate with and support the accounting team to ensure that external clients’ financial and compliance objectives are met. The incumbent will play a crucial role in monthly, quarterly and year end reporting requirements, will be involved in various ad-hoc projects as they emerge, and will deliver in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis every time they are called to action.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly end close on a timely basis for a list of clients from the ecomm space.
  • Responsible for performing the financial reporting, management reports, financial results analysis and support all data presented with business insights, analysis and interpretations.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and rationalization of current accounting practices.
  • Implement proper controls to ensure that all financial as well as non-financial activities are properly accounted for.
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
  • Manage the preparation of all financial reports (incl. Regulatory financial reports, Monthly closing package, General Ledger reconciliations, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and fund recoveries.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results and explain monthly/yearly variances.
  • Manage preparation of financial outlooks and forecasts to facilitate decision making.
  • Develop internal audit program and control system to ensure assets are well protected.
  • Train and mentor junior team members and provide feedback;
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial institutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a high pace environment while respecting tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and systems.
  • Strong Analytical Skills – with the ability to dig into an issue or problem with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – this position interacts with a wide variety of employees.
  • Team player - someone comfortable pitching in on a variety of tasks.
  • Flexible – highly adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Curious – this person should not be content with status quo – this position requires someone who is comfortable in recommending improvements to any and all processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Excel is essential. SQL is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $63,000.00 per year
