Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Operations Rapid Transit is looking for a Senior Advisor to provide support to the Chief of Operations and Executive Management in Operations Rapid Transit Manager in the areas of Team advisory, internal and external stakeholder management, and enterprise strategy alignment activities. You will provide research and analysis in support of the evaluation and development of policies and procedures, and both lead and support the development and implementation of CEO, SMT and Board reporting and initiatives.

What will I be doing?
  • Supports in developing and executing the business planning strategy, ensure Divisional plans/project plans are aligned with the Metrolinx strategic and business plans.
  • Providing subject matter expertise through team discussions and report development and review process.
  • Manages special projects (i.e. Executive office, SMT or Board driven initiatives) through all project phases (i.e. team selection, budget planning, Request for Proposal (RFP) tenders, project design, scheduling, and execution) for initiatives tasked by the CEO, SMT and / or the Board.
  • Conducts research and stays current on emerging trends and best practices and advises on trend comparators and “Best Practice” organizations to align with corporate strategy.
  • Summarizes reports and recommendations for proactive policy improvements or changes for management decision-making
  • Develops communication strategies and materials that support key initiatives and convey program changes to all stakeholders, including presentation materials that support Divisional engagement
  • Leading the development and delivery on key issues by writing briefing and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate approvals of specific enterprise-wide communications to ensure consistent messaging and tone.
  • Oversees and manages (i.e. administrative processes, financial and human resources matter), on behalf of the COO Office and related business units.
  • Participating in and/or leading internal project committees and representing Metrolinx’s COO Office and related business units on interjurisdictional and multi-stakeholder committees and task forces.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related discipline. Post-graduate (Master’s Degree) is an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience providing advice to senior executives, leading teams, managing and reviewing written materials and managing projects from inception to implementation
  • Previous experience in Senior Advisory roles is an asset.
  • Experience working with large-scale organizational marketing efforts and maintains awareness of external trends and Marketing leading practices through research and internal / external outreach to support development of marketing projects and initiatives
  • Experience applying structured project management methodologies to develop project plan charters, track for optimal results, manage priorities, and meet timelines and deliverables
  • Organizational skills to support multiple priorities and navigate through ambiguity
  • Self-directed problem-solver taking initiative and proactively addressing issues working with minimal oversight
  • Discretion and good judgement with the ability to see the “Big Picture”, with a passion for customer service.
