We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for an Senior Buyer - Capital Equipment to join our growing Automotive Team in Windsor, ON. We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents. Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.


In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating and negotiating with supplier to maximize the company’s position on price, delivery and quality.

What will you be doing?

  • Identify new cost reduction initiatives
  • Champion cost reduction initiatives with suppliers and L&P contingency department
  • Member of the Cost Reduction Committee and VA/VE, and L&P task team
  • Perform cost analysis considering both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Able to perform Make vs Buy independently
  • Assist in summarizing cost savings
  • Identify new areas to support communization of parts and consolidation of supply base
  • Provide accurate components costs to the quotation process for bill of material parts
  • Provide support to all departments
  • Able to develop strategies for commodities
  • Knowledge of at least two major commodities
  • Support implementation of business system as required
  • Assists in preparing annual budget for the department


We’re looking for someone with:

  • University degree (business, engineering or supply chain management specialty preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing within an ISO/TS16949 manufacturing environment
  • SCMP/CPP designation or equivalent
  • Able to read ASM drawings/prints
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word
