Primary Duty:
To provide overall project management direction on Healthcare projects in Kamloops, Williams Lake and Fort St. James.


Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Project Management, the Senior Project Manager will bring their technical expertise in residential, institutional, and industrial plumbing, piping and HVAC systems combined with their ability to guide project managers to ensure projects are organized, systematized, and structured properly to ensure that they are completed on time and within budget.


Specifically, the Senior Project Manager will:

  • Lead by example and work alongside the Project Management team to ensure excellence on every mechanical project.
  • Be responsible for understanding the scope of work and contractual agreements for each mechanical project in the company.
  • Act as a resource for Project Managers as they structure their projects to ensure that PMP processes and policies are in place and followed on every project.
  • Ensure that proper planning and forward thinking is taking place in the to prevent problems before they happen.
  • Ensure that project expectations are set on every project and communicated to the assigned Project Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with the estimating group and assigned Project Managers to review new projects and ensure a seamless turnover from preconstruction to construction.
  • Ensure that each Project Manager is preparing the required reports pertaining to job status, budgeting, and schedule for the Ownership Group and Management Committee.
  • Work in partnership with the Ownership Group and the Management Committee to ensure the necessary systems and structures are in place to facilitate continued growth in the company.
  • Work alongside the Chief Estimator, Senior Pre-Fabrication Manager, Fabrication Manager, HR Manager, Accounting Manager, and the Chief Administrative Officer to continually strengthen the relationships between the site and non-site teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Ownership Group, the Accounting Manager, and the Chief Administrative Officer on budgets, cost reports, progress billing, and all related financial matters to ensure that each project is meeting all budgetary requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Pre-Fabrication Manager to ensure that all shop deliverables meet with site specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Work with the BIM Manager to ensure that the required modelling on all projects is completed in a timely manner.
  • Review Project Manager WOH Reports and address concerns with the WOH Committee.
  • Participate in industry specific training programs as required to build knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ successful work history as a mechanical project manager
    • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the plumbing trade
    • Thorough knowledge of the financial aspects of mechanical project management including work on hand reports
    • Thorough knowledge of the prevailing codes of the plumbing trade
    • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and to lay out work from prints, rough plans, sketches, and drawings
    • Ability to estimate labour and materials costs needed for plumbing jobs
    • Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
  • Certification as a project manager would be considered an asset
  • Able to use construction project management software
  • University degree in Engineering, Business or other related field would be preferred
  • A differing combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office


Work Conditions

  • This is a full-time position
  • Overtime as required
  • Walking through uneven grounds on construction sites
  • Navigating around obstacles on construction sites
