JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:

As a senior product management professional, this role is responsible for assessing, developing,
launching, and managing consumer facing solar and battery product offers. Position will need to
understand technical components of behind the meter solar and battery products. Position will
work with other divisions of BC Hydro to understand relationship of these products to the BC
Hydro system, including risks, opportunities, and the customer’s journey from beginning to end.
Position will work closely with a Rates Product Manager to understand the relationship between
products and various rate product offerings to maximize potential for consumer adoption and BC
Hydro benefit. Position will work with senior management to develop long-term budgets, targets
and metrics related to solar and battery product offerings.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of program/product development and
management of multiple activities, manage the expansion and scalability of the product/program,
managing the procurement of vendors and contractors, driving continuous improvements,
developing new initiatives and offers, leading and working in cross-functional teams, and external
stakeholder and partner relationship management.

The Product Manager will be results-oriented, have an exceptional customer centric orientation,
and take a practical approach to effectively resolve problems. The position will also be
accountable for developing and running this product/program utilizing best practices and
technology.

The successful candidate will:
  • Provide project management leadership and direction and lead multi-disciplinary teams to
execute projects and deliver complex energy solutions products which
require multiple approaches to customers and industry utilizing various delivery methods.

  • Monitor the program results across multiple measures and metrics to ensure performance
targets are achieved and/or initiate alternate strategies.



  • Develop briefing notes, analyses, and reports for senior management and government.

  • Establish strong relationships and communication channels with internal and external clients/
stakeholders to ensure success.

  • Provide specialist knowledge to internal stakeholders and customers regarding the operation of
programs and projects.

  • Coach and manage junior team members’ work as required.

  • Engage with cross functional teams and stakeholders in the development and execution of
initiatives.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, investigate and analyze product and market trends and issues to
develop new or revised products to meet energy and financial objectives.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to professional and/or technical resources involved in product
development and implementation.

  • Run regular update meetings to ensure regular communication amongst stakeholders.
Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Degree with a specialization in Marketing or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.

  • 5 - 7 years of experience with product/program management, market research and analysis,
financial analysis, channel management and strategy development, project management and
program management within a large, complex organization.

  • Experience working with a variety of partners on product/program design and management (e.g.
retailers, channel actors, other utilities, municipal and provincial government, etc.)

  • Well-developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong collaboration and ability to influence others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Thrives in a team environment with cross functional team members, able to work with people
with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.

  • Requires excellent oral, written and presentation skills for communication with a wide variety of
internal and external stakeholders as listed above.

  • Strong analytical skills including risk assessment to provide decision recommendations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of BC Hydro's business and the interdependencies of the various
departments and systems.

  • Familiarity with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems or tools is desirable.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
